Buddy Tape is an innovative budding and grafting tape, uniquely formulated to ensure easy and rapid application, reduced labor costs, and high success rates in crops.
Developed in Japan in 1985, this unique product has been widely used throughout Europe and North America for the past fifteen years. To fully utilize the unique characteristics of Buddy Tape, we recommend stretching it gradually during application.
About Buddy Tape
PHOTODEGRADABILITY
Buddy Tape photodegrades naturally upon exposure to sunlight, eliminating the labor costs associated with removing standard tapes and providing an environmentally responsible solution to waste.
ELASTICITY
Buddy Tape can be stretched up to eight times its original length.The elastic nature of the material allows small pieces to be used for each application, ensuring an extremely tight grip to keep the bud or graft firmly in place—essential for successful growth.
SELF-ADHESION
Buddy Tape is not adhesive in its normal stored form, but becomes self adhesive when stretched. This allows quick application with no need for tying knots, and combined with the firm seal created by the film's elastic nature, ensuring the bud or graft remains secure even in windy conditions.
WATER-PROOFING
The film has a wax content to keep it waterproof, so the bud or graft will not dehydrate, but air can pass through the permeable tape allowing the bud to breath. The wax content also means that use of Buddy Tape can eliminate the need for waxing in covered areas.
COMPLETE BUD COVER
The growing bud easily pierces Buddy Tape as it emerges. Because the material is permeable, the bud can be completely covered, providing vital protection from infection and insects.

To fully utilize the unique characteristics of Buddy Tape, we recommend stretching it gradually as it is applied. While there is a natural tendency to stretch the film to its full length and then simply wrap it, doing so can cause the tape to become 'stringy.' This may result in the tape cutting into the growing plant, much like standard grafting tapes. Watch our videos to see how quickly and easily the tape can be applied.

Points of Use
In order to fully utilize the unique characteristics of Buddy Tape, we recommend that it is stretched gradually as it is applied. Although there is a natural tendency to stretch the film to fuller size and then simply wrap around, this can cause the tape to become stringy which can mean that the tape cuts into the growing plant like standard grafting tapes.Points of Caution
STORAGE : Please keep Buddy Tape out of direct sunlight within a temperature range of 10-30 (In particular, avoid leaving the tape in a hot car). Lengthy exposure to UV light will begin the degradation process of the film and could effect its performance. WEATHER : Once the tape has been applied it will be resistant to rainy and windy conditions. However, we recommend avoiding applying Buddy Tape in the rain as water on the surface could affect the initial adhesion of the tape. Also note that in temperatures of lower than 15C the elasticity of the film is reduced. Do not remove Buddy Tape from its' protective case before application as this is necessary for protection from pressure and UV light.Videos
